The DWE7491RS is a portable job site table saw from Dewalt. Needless to say, Dewalt makes some of the best power tools on the market. So how does this offering from the 100-year-old company fair against the competition?

Starting off in the power department, it is a fairly powerful saw. With its 15 amp motor, it offers an increased speed of 4800 RPMs. But how does it fare when put to the test? It has a maximum cut depth of 3.125 inches and a rip capacity of 32.5 inches, not bad for a portable saw.

In my tests, it was able to rip 5/4 inch deck boards with relative ease. Plywood was also not an issue for the saw. One thing that stood out for me was the built-in stand that is excellent for dealing with vibrations.

There is a built-in rack and pinion fence system. It acts as a guide for boards running parallel to the blade. This system is accurate and adjustable by hand. My only quarrel with this saw is the plastic miter gauge. All the same, it isn’t that big of a deal.

Two Thumbs Up For

  • The powerful 15 amp motor allows you to cut materials efficiently
  • There is a rack and pinion fence system that allows for easy and accurate adjustment to the fence
  • Comes with a stand that makes it easy to set up
  • It comes with a 2-inch dust collection port that you can attach to a vacuum
  • There is a built-in storage system for easily storing the saw’s accessories

What’s Not To Like

  • For larger materials, its speed might not be ideal
  • It lacks a dado plate though it is compatible with dado blades

Verdict

This Dewalt table saw has very many uses. It features all the components you would need in a job site table saw. The saw has one of the largest rip capacity on the market. This is one of the main reasons why I rank it top on my list.

When you get the Dewalt delivered, the first thing that will surprise you is the weight. This saw is light, at just around 53 pounds. Making it one of the most portable table saws on the market. But portability isn’t the only great thing about it.

Powered by a 15 amp motor, it can easily match its heavier and larger competitors when it comes to performance. Ripping  4×8 plywood or OSB sheet with 24.5″ rip capacity is no problem for this saw.

The rack and pinion fence system is a staple of Dewalt table saws. This system ensures that the fence remains parallel to the blade. One of the main benefits of this system is that fence adjustment is smooth and easy.

Like with the other Dewalt table on this list, this comes with onboard storage of all accessories. This onboard storage can be used to store all accessories from the riving knife to the blade guard.

Two Thumbs Up For

  • The table saw is lightweight, portable
  • The rack and pinion system allows for smooth, accurate and quick fence adjustments
  • Has a relatively large ripping capacity of 24.5 inches
  • Comes with a solid fence which holds plywood and another material when being cut
  • Has a powerful motor that allows for cutting of different materials

What’s Not To Like

  • Does not come with a stand and you will have to purchase it separately
  • The saw’s in-feed is not suitable for large pieces.

Verdict

Dewalt DWE7485 is one of the most portable and lightweight options. It is ideal for professionals who are looking for a job site table saw that is easy to transport. The motor installed in this unit has plenty of power for most tasks. Dewalt DWE7485 has an upgrade version (DWE7491RS) 10-inch table saw which we reviewed in this review.

With many power tools going the cordless way, it was always a matter of time until table saws joined the cordless bandwagon. One of the first cordless table saws to hit the market was the Milwaukee 2736-20 M18 Fuel. How does it compare to the more traditional corded saws?

Out of the box, it looks like a very well made tool thanks to its metal frame. The rack and pinion fence system is something I have come to expect from job site table saws. And thankfully, this Milwaukee model did not disappoint in this regard.

The DEWALT Flexvolt was also one of the first cordless table saws on the market. What I didn’t like about it was the blade height adjustment. It took way too long to achieve full blade height. This is an annoyance I did not experience with Milwaukee though.

With the Milwaukee, it only takes 14 turns to reach full blade height. On the other hand, the Flexvolt requires 35 turns to reach full height. When it comes to rip capacity, this model again impresses with a 24.5-inch rip capacity. This is enough for handling 4×8 plywood sheets.

Two Thumbs Up For

  • Weighing 40 pounds and cordless it is a highly portable table saw
  • Offers a better blade height adjustment mechanism than the competition
  • With a rip capacity of 24.5 inches, it can cut through standard-sized sheets of plywood
  • Comes with an easy to use and adjust riving knife
  • Has a safety feature that prevents the blade from starting when you insert a battery

What’s Not To Like

  • Would have been a better all-round saw if it had an AC adapter option
  • Its comes with 8-1/4 inch blade instead of the more common 10-inch blade

Verdict

This saw packs a big punch, and what surprised me is that it outperformed the beloved Dewalt Flexvolt in most areas. This is a solid power tool and is a great option for professionals and DIYers alike.

You probably know that Hitachi power tools are now known as Metabo. So don’t get fool with the new name. They produce some of the excellent power tools in the industry to date.

Weighing 96 pounds this table saw can cut ordinary wood, hardwood, plywood, and other wood materials at 3-1/8″ at 90° and 2-1/4″ at 45° angle. It can cut like a hot knife through butter with accuracy.

It is powered by 15 amp high capacity motor with 4500 RPM speed. For stable work, ease of use, and breakdown Metabo (former Hitachi) designed the fold and roll stand with strong legs.

With the soft start technology, it reduced a significant level of noise and recoil. In addition, it features an electric brake system which can turn off the saw within a second

Two Thumbs Up For

  • Powerful 15 amp Motor
  • electric brake
  • Attached wheels on the stand for easy portability.
  • large working table size of 28-3/4″ x 22″.

What’s Not To Like

  • The Customer support of Hitachi is not as good as expected.

Verdict

If you are looking for the best Jobsite table saw at an affordable price range, then this might be an ideal choice. Since in this price range, they offer some of the excellent features which provide more expensive Jobsite table saw available in the market. The Bosch 4100-09 table saw is popular among many. And with the release of 4100-10, things could only get better. And get better they did, the newer 4100-10 takes what we loved about the 4100-09 and improves on it.

A 15 amp motor powers this new model and produces 4 Horsepower. While the blade rotates at 3650 RPM, so it is powerful enough to handle most of your wood cutting needs. In regards to rip capacity, it offers a 25-inch rip capacity.

Though it is dwarfed by the 32.5-inch rip capacity of the Dewalt, it is still sufficient to crosscut 4 ft wide sheets in half. One feature I found particularly good with this unit was the cast aluminum top with a coated finish.

When it comes to the blade, Bosch does away with the 40 tooth blade of the previous model and instead opts for a 24 tooth carbide blade. Given it’s the preferred blade for rip cuts, I mark it as an improvement.

Two Thumbs Up For

  • The included miter gauge is one of the best out-of-the-box miter gauges I have seen on a table saw
  • It is powered by a powerful 15 amp motor and has the ability to cut just about anything
  • For a portable saw, it has a relatively high rip capacity
  • There is onboard storage included with this saw
  • The 24 tooth carbide blade can be swapped out with a dado blade

What’s Not To Like

  • The ruler guides are a bit more confusing than on other models
  • Compared to other table saw the tabletop has a smaller surface area

Verdict

It is not always easy improving on an already great product. Thus the fact that 4100-10 is an improvement on 4100-09 is a testament to its performance and excellence.

How To Select The Best table saw under 600 and under 500: buying guide

Whether you are spending $600, you will want it to be of great quality. Most importantly, you will want a table saw that can meet your needs. So what features should you consider when shopping for the best table saw under 500 or a slightly costlier but less than 600? Here are the features that matter the most.

The blade

The most common blade sizes for table saws are 10 and 12 inches. Table saws that cost less than $500 or even $600 will most likely have 10-inch blades. These blades are enough for handling most general tasks. For industrial projects, larger 12-inch blades become necessary.

But for less than $500, 10-inch blades will do just fine. Smaller blades in this price point may struggle when handling thick stock.

Portability

When you are looking to spend $500 on a table saw, you are most likely looking for a lightweight model you can use for different projects. This means you will be moving with the saw. Portability is thus an important aspect to consider.

Also, as a hobbyist, you probably don’t have a lot of room to keep a large bulky saw. A compact and lightweight option will do fine. At this price point, you can buy a portable saw that does not require a lot of room.

Accessories

What accessories does the table saw come with? This is an important question to ask before splashing money on one. Accessories such as a miter gauge will come in handy when you need to make angled cuts.

Others such as a fence, will help in holding the wood in place. Onboard storage for storing these accessories is also important. Others such as a dust port that can be connected to a vacuum, help keep your work area clean.

Rip capacity

Rip capacity is defined as the distance the rip fence can move to the right of the blade. For large sheets of plywood, I recommend a rip capacity of 24 inches at the least. If you are handling standard 2×4 plywood, then a rip capacity of less than 24 inches will do fine.

Conclusion

All the products reviewed above have their pros and cons. It’s a matter of deciding which works best for you as per your needs. Overall, there are very many table saw options at this price point, but not all deliver on their promise. The five above have demonstrated an ability to offer performance without compromising on weight and portability.
